Drama Club Advances to Semifinals
March 10, 2017
On Saturday, March 4, the Matignon Drama Club competed in the Massachusetts Drama Festival at Framingham High School. We performed a 40 minute one act show called, "The Audition." Eight other high schools also performed their one act shows.
Saturday night at the awards ceremony the Matignon Drama Club took home the most awards that they have received in recent years. Three of our cast members, Ian MacCourt '17, Valerie Kelner '17, and Julia Curro '18, each won acting awards and our Stage Manager, Ava Berarducci '18, won an award for superb stage managing. Three schools move on to the semifinals of drama fest and the first two schools announced were Framingham High School and Holliston High School. Before announcing the third show, the judges began to describe the show, "This show had a cast full of actors of whom I believe we can all relate to." Our club looked around at each other, then he announced the third school - Matignon High School. We screamed with joy celebrating our accomplishment! As a senior, I am so happy that this happened in my last year and with the cast and crew that I have come to love as my second family. All of our hard work and dedication finally paid off and it wouldn't have been possible without our directors, Miss Morrison and Miss Townson.
On Wednesday we preformed "The Audition" for the school. Thank you to our classmates for their kind words and love for the show. We would also like to thank the administration and staff for all their hard work and encouragement. We will now be competing on March 18, at Sharon High School, in the Massachusetts Drama Festival Semifinals.
