Underclassmen Shine at Annual Science Fair
February 26, 2018
On February 15, fifty students, selected from the freshman and sophomore classes, participated in the Annual Science Fair at Matignon High School. Matignon's Science Department coordinated this annual event and the participants displayed very creative and original projects. The students presented and defended their projects to 3 judges, scientists Mia Rushe P'18,'21, Isin Dalkilic-Liddle, and Heather Cooke from the Biologics Drug Discovery group in Biogen.
The participants who took the first, second, and third place in their individual category will advance to the Regional Science and Engineering Fair that will take place on Saturday, March 10 at Somerville High School. There was a wide variety of project topics, including the effect of pH level in Hydra populations, the effect of light on photographs, and the use of a cell phone pinhole camera to measure the diameter of the sun. The students who qualified for the Regional Science and Engineering Fair are sophomores Natalie Bett, Alyssa Morgan, and Lily O’Connell, as well as freshmen Katerina Krstanovic and Lilly Rushe.
Congratulations to all our students!
