My Matignon

For most people, their time at Matignon High School begins late in their 8th Grade year at the “Magic of Matignon” or on their first days of Freshman Year, trying their best to learn how to open the lockers and figure out which lunch they are supposed to attend. My time at Matignon High School started a lot earlier when I was in first grade. My older sister and brother attended and graduated from Matignon so my Matignon experience spans much longer than the typical four years.

I can remember spending countless hours sitting on the sidelines of a volleyball game in Mirabello Gymnasium and watching the football team play under the lights, counting down the minutes until I could put on the helmet and shoulder pads myself. After waiting all those long years to truly be a Matignon Warrior, when my time finally came, I did not expect it to fly by so quickly. Now, only one year away from graduation, I can’t believe all of the good times and great friends I have made along the way. It may sound like a cliche but time truly does fly when you are having fun. From long and boiling hot football practices in August to finishing the last final of the year before summer vacation, during the months in between, I have made memories and friends that will last a lifetime. People who were strangers on day one have become friends and teammates. Matignon High School has a real sense of community that has made my high school experience so far more than I could have hoped for. Once a Warrior, Always a Warrior!
